Knowledge is how we win against Brexit
The antidote to lies is the truth.
Britain left the EU because the public were systematically misled. Many now recognise this, but millions still do not.
When the truth becomes widely understood, the UK can reset its view of the EU. A fresh start. A chance to see Europe not through myths, but through facts.
Leave only won because people were lied to. Every argument for Brexit was false.
▪ LEAVE LIED that the UK sent £350m a week to the EU. RUBBISH. The figure was wrong and deliberately misleading. EU membership returned far more value to Britain than it cost.
▪ LEAVE LIED that Britain would be better off outside the EU. HOGWASH. Britain and Britons are now poorer. Putting up barriers to trade with our neighbouring countries offers Britain nothing but disadvantages.
▪ LEAVE LIED that the EU is not a democracy. BALONEY. All EU laws are agreed democratically. Every EU treaty was debated and approved by our Parliament in Westminster.
▪ LEAVE LIED that the UK lost sovereignty. TRIPE. In the EU we gained sovereignty, with votes, influence, and vetoes on decisions that shape our continent.
▪ LEAVE LIED about migration. POPPYCOCK. The UK has millions more jobs than Britons to fill them. EU citizens mostly came here to work, and if there was no work, they mostly did not come or they left. They contributed far more than they took.
▪ LEAVE LIED that EU accounts were never signed off. DRIVEL. The EU accounts are checked and signed off every single year by independent auditors.
▪ LEAVE LIED that the UK had open borders in the EU. CLAPTRAP. Everyone entering or leaving passed full border controls. EU citizens could be refused entry or expelled if they were considered a threat.
These lies were not accidental. They were carefully, cunningly, and consistently fed into the national consciousness over many years.
But lies can be undone. Because when the truth is clearly explained, it outshines lies.
Demolish the lies that led to Brexit, present the truth about the bountiful benefits of EU membership, and the public will demand a Brexit rethink.
And when the public demands, politicians know they MUST deliver.
